Hops are a three-year commitment before you will see any profit. From rhizomes to adult bines is a very long haul and can seem like it's not worth the trouble. Hops are very prone to Downey-mildew, spider mites and Japanese Beatles.

Why then, grow these temperamental bines from the north? If you are ever able to grab a few cones off a hop bine and roll them in your hand you will be hooked or hate them. There seems to be no in between with hops. We are hooked.

Hops are one of the smallest things added to beer that can have the biggest effect on your local craft brews aroma and taste. We are very excited to be able to help level the playing field a bit.

They are a natural antiseptic and that was one of the first reasons they, were added to beer. Brewing beer is a very sterile process as opposed to wine production, in which the fermentation is more forgivng so we are told. Hops are also very calming in holistic healing circles. They make small pillows that go inside your regular pillow to help get a restful night sleep. They are more than the bitter little cone most people think they are. Our hops are a rarity in Georgia. Ours are getting to the adult stage of hop production. Jonnie MacCracken's in Marietta, Ga has been brave-enough to brew multiple batches of beer with our hops and had great successs.

Mr. Dobey Moore, MacCracken's Brew Master, has said that everything he has replaced with our fresh hops has been as good if not better. Most brew masters brew beer with hops that have been forced through a pelletizer machine and look like green grain pellets. For one of the 1st times in Georgia history local brew masters will have the opportunity to brew with fresh Georgia wet hops. They will be able to boast their craft beer is a true Georgia beer.
